Dell Vostro 1720 - VGA to S-VID, composite or HDMI
by Financialguru - 11/3/09 2:24 PMProbably one of the worst computers I've ever owned. I won't list all the dissapointments I have with this Dell, but I need help on getting the VGA to convert to S-VID, composite or HDMI (preferably SVid since I have a long SVID cable already)
Dell Vostro 1720 running XP Pro
I currently have an VGA to SVIS/RCA converter cable which does not seem to work. I have a different Dell with an SVID output, but when I use the VGA port & cable converter - nothing.
Do I need to change monitor settings in order to get an SVid output through the VGA output?

VGA to SVID

Dell provided the wrong adapters to convert the VGA to HDMI, but I have a VGA to SVideo adapter already. So I am trying to get this configuration to work.
....It seems like my best bet is to bring the TV home, and buy a new one with VGA for my office. What makes it so frustrating is the poor advice I got from Dell.

It is still amazing to me how complicated it is to attach a PC to a TV, but the situation is improving.
