My keyboard works fine as long as I stay out of Internet Explorer!
I can type 60 wpm with astounding accuracy in all MS Office applications. Yet in IE, the only place I can type is the address bar!
My keyboard seems to be failing in all text boxes below the address bar.
EX:
jjjjjjjjj (pressed j key 10 times) 9 j's
ffffffff (pressed f key 10 times) 8 f's
iiiiiiii (pressed f key 10 times) 8 i's
rrrrrrr (pressed f key 10 times) 7 r's
jnta (tried to type jonathan at speed)
ths i blu (the sky is blue)
I updtedt ie 8adupdate my jav (I updated to IE 8 and updated my java)
When in Internet Explorer I am limited to maybe 20 words a minute. Sometimes I have to press a key 5 or 6 times to see the character in the text box.
I have alot of tech experience and am completely baffled!
I have a brand new Dell Studio XPS 1340.
I am experiencing the identical problem as per below.
Have called Dell (and waited for 45 mins)and they don't know of a fix. Say they have not heard of this problem!
Keyboard works fine in all Office applications but fails to recognise characters when completing web forms and web mail..
Fustrating!
I hav now had asessin with Dell Technial Suport.
The Cae-Handler was very helpful and the issue seemed to go away when he was rotely controlling my screen.
But when I cam to complete the onlineCustomer satisfaction Questionnaire, the characters stared dropping again. (i.e. Despite very clear and specific key depressions, random leters simly do not display...)
The ame thing is happning now as I type this. But only a few letters are missing. When I trid to complet th frum lastnight, it becam ipossible as 2 out of 5 letters were notdisplaying.
Is this a compatibility problem betwen Delland IE8 or Dell and Windows 64 bit, I wonder?
Various IE add0ons were disabled by th Engineer.
I was so happy to read your posts because I just bought a new Dell and have the exact same problem. Then it hit me -- it's the browser. I loaded Firefox as my browser and I can type perfectly fine on all my emails, forms, etc. that I access using that browser. If anyone gets Dell on the phone you can let them know that's the "solution," but obviously, something is wrong here.
3 month old Dell laptop XPS1340, 4 mb, current bios and all drivers. Vista personal 64 and IE7. Blue Screens reminicesent of Windows 3.1. Already replaced the HD and the fan sounds like a jet taking off.
7th and last Dell in our family probably.
