I cannot find any device that distinguishes itself by saying it has the BEST specification for recording from tape (either vhs or 8mm). I have a hauppauge unit that records is several modes. even when doing it a the highest quality it is nowhere as good as the original tape i'm trying to transfer. What are the specs for recoding at highest quality and which devices have that ability. Please give specific examples of a product if you know of one. thanks.
Sorry but the old NTSC and PAL video tape is such low quality that anything should be fine. QUALITY was never there and we can't add it back in!
playing the tapes, i can see good quality. but is the digital recording on my hauppauge at the HIGHEST setting [mpeg2 12mbs] the resulting recodring is not as good [by a lot] from where i started.
you did not respond to my question re equipement or software.
I don't know how fast you computer is but it sounds like the capturing device doesn't have hardware encoding (or does it?). If it doesn't have it then the video capture may have to be in low resolution or there will be drop frames. Just my thought on this.
